Indie folk foursome The Vespers have launched a Kickstarter campaign with the goal of raising $30,000 to fund a third album, titled Sisters and Brothers. About the project, the band says, "From January 6th - January 31st we are scheduled to create our 3rd record with an awesome producer named Paul Moak at his incredibly legit studio called The Smoakstack in Nashville. It is very expensive to do this, and we need you."
The full proposal on Kickstarter reads:
We are a band from Nashville, TN made up of some early 20-something-year-old sisters and brothers. Our sound is probably best described as Americana/Pop. For nearly 5 years now we have traveled the US and have self-released 2 full-length records. One in 2010, one in 2012, and hopefully now one in 2014! This is our livelihood, and childhood dream. After the dust settled on nearly two years of touring on our last record, 3 weddings in 2013, and nearly 30 new songs coming to life, we feel now is the time to create another full-length record.
The opportunity came up-and we booked it.
It genuinely feels like we are on to something with the 13 or so songs we are about to record. We've been avoiding the inevitable question of, 'So how are you going to pay for this endeavor?', and our time has come to make a decision. Sign a deal? Staying Indie. Tribal council voted. Our goals, ambitions, and big ideas can be attained on our current trajectory, especially with you guys behind us. So that's who we have chosen to partner with.It leaves us, and you. A direct path.
Through our team of mentors, a direct relationship with distributors, and our completely amazing fan base, we have graciously sustained ourselves by keeping all of the proceeds from anything having to do with our band.We are humbly asking you to pledge, pre-order, donate, hire us to come play a show, or whatever you feel like doing, to keep it that way. We cannot create this record without you.
Our goal of $30,000 covers the cost of recording, the producer fee, mixing, mastering, and Kickstarter's fee. The essentials.
We do hope to be able to stretch past this goal, and have a yummy budget to print, promote, and market the record (Press, videos, radio promotions, advertising, and so much more), but first things first:
We have to raise at least our goal to even take the finished project out of the studio. If you back our project:
Your card will not be charged until the end of January. And that only happens if we meet the goal.
You will receive 'backer only' updates from the studio as recording is happening!
You will be the first to hear the record streaming once it is finished.
We will love you greatly and feel very warm and fuzzy inside.Thank you so much for reading this, and considering.
If you have any questions at all, please email us directly at info[at]thevespersband.com or through Kickstarter. We are very open to your thoughts, ideas, and concerns!
Peace and Blessings!
xoxo
